It is advisable to remove the front seats if you intend to later lift, the bodyshell off the chassis. Have an assistant operate the seat forwards/backwards adjustment lever whilst you sit on the rear seat and push the front seat off the rails using your feet. If the seat won't move far enough forwards, look at the side of the outside runner; you may find a small catch which, if pressed, will then allow the seat to come free.
